Four generations of Yorkshire steel
A family business built on more than 50 years of steel fabrication, still run by the Leake family from Red House Farm near Ripon.
Our history
The business started with George Leake, a blacksmith working iron for the farms and estates around Ripon. His skills passed to his son John Stanley Leake — the JSL in our name — who turned the forge work into a steel fabrication and building business serving North Yorkshire agriculture.
John's son David Leake took the business on, and today David runs JSL Construction with his own son Mark. Between them they cover design, fabrication and erection, so from your first phone call to handover you are dealing with the family who will actually build your building.
Over 50 years on, we still work the same way: sensible advice, a fair price, and steelwork made properly in our own workshop rather than bought in.
Where we work
We are based at Red House Farm near Ripon and work throughout North Yorkshire and the wider UK, from single farm buildings and stable blocks to industrial developments and refurbishment projects.

BS EN 1090 accreditation
JSL Construction has been BS EN 1090 and CE accredited since 2014. It means our fabricated structural steelwork is produced under certified factory production control, with the welding procedures, traceability and declarations of performance that current UK building regulations require.
“David and Mark were very helpful and patient while my agricultural building went through a number of specification changes. I'm extremely happy with the final building and would recommend JSL Construction to others.”
“I would highly recommend JSL to everyone who wants a quality farm building.”
